SHOCK ABSORBERS

What do shock absorbers do?

Essentially, shock absorbers do two things. Apart from controlling the movement of springs and suspension, shock absorbers also keep your tyres in contact with the ground at all times. At rest or in motion, the bottom surface of your tyres is the only part of your vehicle in contact with the road. Any time that a tyre’s contact with the ground is broken or reduced, your ability to drive, steer and brake is severely compromised.

Despite popular belief, shock absorbers do not support the weight of a vehicle. More>

STEERING & SUSPENSION COMPONENTS

A vehicle's steering system consists of a number of seperate components linking the steering wheel to the road wheels. These components are under considerable stress due to the various pivoting and turning motions that occur with daily driving. These stress factors readily take their toll on the swiveling parts and require replacement from time to time. More>

STEERING & SUSPENSION BUSHES

In a car or other vehicle's suspension, rubber bushings are used to connect the various moving arms and pivot points to the chassis and other parts of the suspension. In order to minimise vibration, wear, and transmission of noise, they often incorporate flexible material such as rubber or polyurethane. These bushings often take the form of an annular cylinder of flexible material inside a metallic casing or outer tube. They might also feature an internal crush tube which protects the bushing from being crushed by the fixings which hold it onto a threaded spigot. Many different types of bushing designs exist. COIL SPRINGS & SWAYBARS

Coil springs support the weight of the vehicle and set the height in relation to the ground. The vast majority of modern cars employ coil springs in all four corners of the suspension. Springs and the rate of tension they consist of are critical to a vehicle's handling capabilities.

Sway bars are designed to reduce sway, limit body roll and stabilise the vehicle. Simply speaking a sway bar reduces the lean as the dynamics hold the vehicle flatter to the road increasing grip for improved handling.

WHEEL ALIGNMENT PRODUCTS
Proper alignment of a vehicle's road wheel is important for a number of reasons - to prevent irregular tyre wear; to allow the vehicle to track or drive in a straight line; to prevent inefficient fuel use; to minimise premature wear of suspension components; to improve handling. However as more late model vehicles are manufactured with less and less adjustments for wheel alignment then it can become necessary to install Alignment Correction products to bring the wheels back within the car maker's specifications.
